Where do I begin

How do you start all over again doing what you like after real life dramas in your life.

Im sorry I was away from your faces for such a long time, especially after all the energy I had after graduating from the S.A. Dog Training College. Things happened and I know some of the pictures might offend some of you, but I am of the opinion that pictures tell a true story. Those who are offended please accept my appologies in advance.

I lost my beloved dog through a dog fight and I was devastated and confused at the same time, I had just too many unanswered questions. But with help from family and friends I was able to accept that things happen for a reason and for that matter I had to go on with my life and passion (dog training).

Few days later, I was taking one of my dogs to the vet on my way to work and BOOOM, I lost control of the car and it rolled three times. I was injured on my head and knee and my dogs died a week later though it did not show any visible injuries after the accident. This took me back and I thought hard as to why it all had to happen to me especially soon after I had lost a dog during the dog fight.

I was limping and my head was not right but few people noticed, but I had to do the most honourable thing, "not communicate that on my blog until I felt the time was right".

This blog is just to say that I am back and looking forward to more information sharing with all of you. You can comment on my blog by clicking the comment link at the end of my blog. But if you have a problem doing that let me know or you can go straight to my blog site on

A collegue of mine gave me this beautiful puppy and I am busy training her and I am looking forward to continue doing what I like the most, "giving love to my dogs". Her name is Stompie (3 months old), please follow my blog as I take Stompie to the next level on my day to day training. She is at the moment learning the basic commands (sit, heel, down)and she is doing very well.

I hope you will enjoy following my blog and Stompie

We learnt from the best

Its so good looking at the progress on my dog training skills since I completed the course. I wonder how the other guys that did the course with me are finding the results. Before, I used to struggle with basic commands, I put the training into practice and withing two days my dog could follow commands and now its progressing on daily basis. The course was worth the effort.

It was such hard work at the college and its good to see the results. It was so tiring and when we graduated the fatigue was not there, but a day later it set in. I had to take a deserved break from all the running around and rested.

Guys send your pictures and I would really like to hear from all of you.

Once again, what a wonderful bunch of guys you are. We learnt from the best and lets ensure that we do not disappoint our instructors who put up so much work into making us the best we could be. Lets be living examples that the college produces the best trainers.

Im doing what I like the most

Tomorrow I am starting my last week at training, but that will only be the beginning of a very long journey. This is a wonderful place to study, the environment and staff is supper. Its just amazing how much one can learn about dogs in one day, so you can imagine how much that is in two weeks. I have seen and learnt so much.I will leave this place as a better person to help my people as I have always done in the past, but my understanding will be totally different.
I have been taught to always put the dog first.
I am attending with a bunch of dog lovers and it feels like Im living in a dog world. We are such an amazing team, though we are from different back grounds and countries. We speak the same dog language and that is what matters. I will definitely miss the team and wonderful instructors. Its amazing how you can make a difference in a dogs life within such a short period. I have worked with several dogs and they are all amazing animals. looking forward to chat with all of you guys after the course and I will be able to give you a break down of the course and the two people who have made such a big impact in my life, Chris and Christine Van Der Westhuizen.
KEEP A "SHORT" NOT A "TIGHT" LEASH, till we chat again.

What Type Of Dog Training Do I Do

Like i have said in my last post i use nothing but positive methods, but without the food. Dogs are smarter then what we think. But its us who really need the training and understanding of the dog. Can any dog be trained? Sure, but its the owner who must be willing to put in the time to train the dog. Listen a dog is not born already trained, this is why we as dog trainers have to help the owners understand how their dog works and what type of training does he need. This is where the owner comes in as they live with their dog everyday; so its important that we as dog trainers get as much information so we know what type of training is needed.

Dogs are great to have around as we can learn so much from them. How do we learn from our dogs? Well have you ever seen a bunch of dogs just hanging out? If so then you will see which ones who will rule the roost as like in your own home if you have more then one dog. The older the dog gets older and as you see the younger one will keep trying to take over the older dogs spot. This is where people need to watch as this can get real bad if we the top dog dont step in. It doesnt matter if they are the same sex or not from what i have learned the older the dog gets the other one will keep trying to take over. Male or female. Most case if you have the same sex dogs and are close in age this will also cause a problem, but if you have a steadily home this wont be a problem as your the top dog and you set the rules.

Stop breeding for the sake of breeding

Guys we have a problem of dogs being neglected due to over breeding. Its about time we stop blaming the SPCA for things that are caused by our own doing.

Lets not put profit ahead of the lives of the animals. Breed only if your dog is a Champion and you want to improve the quality of the breed. I am hot, tired of people who breed for the same of breeding and them fail to take care of the poor animal. I am not an animal rights activist, but I feel that we must say it with one voice, "STOP BREEDING"

Not everyone can bring up puppies and its a lot of job bringing up puppies. There is no money as most people seem to believe. It is very expensive to raise puppies. This has to stop, we are the ones who need to take a stance, not the SPCA, they are there to guide us as far as the bylaws are concerned. Some poeple hate them for doing their jobs, they are there because we do not listen and most of the time, reason.

If your dog has never won a race or caught a buck, why breed that dog. What are your intentions, are you breeding to improve the breed or just because its a female dog it has to be bred. We are our own enemies.

Dogs are being neglected when we become sick or retrenched and not able to look after them. We are a bunch of educated individuals, lets help our brothers who are less educated and believe that its a must for every dog to be bred once atleast in its life time. We cant be repeating the same mistakes done in the past, lets do something about it now before its too late.

Lets do it for the animals not personal gain. Away with breeding.
